Keith H. Hughes, a graduating senior at West Brunswick High School, has been awarded the 2nd Annual Sea Notes Scholarship.
Keith is the son of Albert and Jill Hughes of Shallotte.
Keith's music credentials are significant and varied. He has been selected for participation in All-County Bands throughout his middle and high school years, and has been a featured soloist. At West, he is a member of Marching Band, Jazz Band, Show Choir, and the Men's a cappella group. He was also a member of the DCI Drum and Bugle Corps which toured the USA in the summer of 2008 and took 5th place in the DCI World Championships.
His instrumental studies include piano, guitar, trumpet, and tuba. Vocally, he performs in a community Gospel Trio. He sings regularly with his church and also with the AWANA program. His non-musical activities include participation in the Brunswick County Teen Court Program. Keith also finds time to hold down a part-time job.
Keith plans to start his college education in the fall at Brunswick Community College.
