Dianne Hoffman has been a singing member of the Sea Notes for several years, but also likes to step out in front of the group to direct. She retired from Charlotte Country Day School as a music teacher. While there she produced assorted musicals and plays for the school. Dianne was also music director of Giles Little Theater in Virginia and has directed church choirs in both Virginia and North Carolina before moving to Lockwood Folly with her husband Tom.
Diane Kulp is a graduate of Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in music education. Her concentration was in voice with a minor in piano. She taught music in schools in Pennsylvania and Virginia, and for the past 28 years has worked in churches as director of music. Mrs. Kulp served a large Methodist church in Fairfax, Virginia, where she directed fourteen choral and handbell choirs. In addition to her church responsibilities, she has led numerous choral and handbell workshops and was mentor to fellow church musicians. Diane is currently Music Director at Trinity United Methodist Church in Southport, NC.
Jane Boberg retired to North Carolina after teaching music for 30 years in North Carolina, Kansas, and New York. Jane earned a bachelor's degree in music education at Mars Hill College, North Carolina. She completed her masters degree in piano performance at SUNY Potsdam, New York. She also received a certificate for studying Orff for three summers and was president of the Orff chapter in Lawrence, Kansas. Jane taught elementary music and was organist/choir director at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lawrence, Kansas. She also taught Methods classes at Kansas University music department. Jane is the organist/choir director at Saint Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southport.
Cindy Sellers has been a church musician for most of the past thirty-eight years and is currently organist and choir director at the Village Chapel of Bald Head Island. She coordinated and directed the tri-county quincentennial choral presentation of Christopher Columbus, His Story in 1992, and served as the organizational conductor for the Wilmington Concert Band. A founding member of Sea Notes, she as been director, accompanist, soloist, or singer for numerous concerts since 1974. Her most recent efforts include conducting Sea Notes in Messiah with the Long Bay Symphony in 2003 and Swing into Spring with the Andrew Thielen Big Band in 2005. Cindy will be directing the 2010 Christmas Concert series performed in conjunction with the Brunswick Concert Band.
Susan Linton graduated from DePauw University in Indiana with a Bachelor of Music degree in keyboard performance and music education. Se taught K-8 general music, high school chorus and orchestra, and accompanied many community and high school musicals. Suzi was Music Director/Organist at several churches in Ohio and South Carolina from 1978 until retiring to Southport in 2006 with her husband David. She teaches piano, serves as organist for the choir at St Brendan's Catholic Church in Shallotte, and is also the organist for the St. James Chapel.
Dave Christensen received his B.A. in Music Ed. from Wagner College in New York and his M.A. in Music Ed. from Rutgers University in New Jersey. He was a high school choral director for 32 years and a church organist/choir director for 25 years. His auditioned 85 voice Concert Choir won numerous national choral competitions which provided them the opportunity to perform in concert at the Kennedy Center and the National Cathedral in Washington D.C., St. Patrick"s Cathedral in New York City, the Boston Conservatory, and in 1992 they were selected to represent the U.S.A. in a 24 country "Choral Christmas" in Vienna, Austria. His retirement concert was Friday night, May 31st, 2002 at Carnegie Hall. The 300 vocalists and 150 orchestra members performed the Brahms Requiem, which made it the largest concert in the history of Carnegie Hall.
